Velan.com Gets a Fresh New Look and Feel

Known for the quality and innovation of their industrial valves, Velan launches a new state-of-the-art website to showcase their products and build the “My Velan” community of distributors and end-users. The feature-rich bilingual site delivers new, extensible functionality that can grow alongside the international company when they are ready to offer more site languages.
The New Velan.com

“Velan’s former website only allowed one Administrator,” reveals Liesl Barrell, Project Coordinator at HTC. In contrast, their new IgnitionWeb-powered site is being administered by a team of staff members, each according to their offline role and responsibilities. “The graphics team upload their header and banner images, the HR staff publishes job postings, their marketing team submits Velan news and events, and the whole system matches their company hierarchy,” says Barrell. “All the moving parts come together on the front-end, building a bigger and better site than could be possible with only one webmaster.”

Most impressive is Velan’s comprehensive, searchable catalogue of products and accompanying documentation. The company wanted to minimize their overhead costs relating to printing and shipping documentation, while maximizing the efficiency of the ordering process. To accomplish this, HTC created a logged-in area for My Velan members, granting them secure access to PDF versions of maintenance manuals and catalogues that can easily be downloaded or emailed to their team. “They can also request print copies,” notes Barrell, “through a fully-automated system, which reduces Velan’s processing time and costs, and also allows clients to track their order status when they log in.”

In addition, HTC developed a customized IgnitionWeb module to add, edit and store Velan’s long list of sales and service contacts. “Contact Manager makes it easy for users to distinguish between Velan contacts and third-party vendors,” says Barrell. “Administrators specify sales territories for their representatives, which correspond to the front-end filters site visitors use to search the database.”

“Velan is a world-leading valve manufacturer, and they now have a world-class site,” states Barrell. In the two days since the site was launched, the My Velan community is already growing, with distributors and end-users signing up from all corners of the globe.
